Rev. Arthur Mackey Sr. Park, with a central Nassau location and part of the Nassau County Parks system since 1984, is located by the Roosevelt Preserve and incorporates a beautiful lake and numerous recreational activities. Formerly known as Roosevelt Park, it was named in memory of Rev. Arthur Mackey Sr., respected Roosevelt pastor, who was a community activist for youth and a well-known and respected leader.
Athletics/Physical Activities:
- Two handball/paddleball courts.
- Two tennis courts.
- Two full basketball courts and four half-courts.
- One baseball field.
Family/Kids:
- A large playground area provides a range of activities for youngsters.
- There is one unreserved (first come, first served) picnic area and one reserved picnic area (Leisure Pass and fee required; in person reservations accepted beginning Reserve for 2024 in person beginning March 4, 2024).
Other:
- The lake at Rev. Arthur Mackey Park provides a beautiful setting for a stroll, a jog or some quiet time relaxing on one of the numerous benches that line the walkway.
Directions:
To reach Arthur MacKey Park, take Southern State Parkway East to Exit 23/Meadowbrook Road (not Meadowbrook Parkway) South. Take Meadowbrook Road to Washington Avenue. Make a right onto Washington and take over the Parkway to Lakeside Drive (across from United Cerebral Palsy/UCP). Make a right onto Lakeside and go to the park entrance on the right.
