Article 16 of the Agriculture and Markets Law, and Related Sections, establishes the authority of the New York State Department of Weights and Measures.
According to New York State law, certain goods must be sold according to defined standards. These standards may include regulations on where a good may be sold, how a good must be advertised and labeled, and other retail procedures.
New York State Department of Weights and Measures regulates the pricing of retail products by instituting unit pricing of certain consumer commodities. This law is intended to provide consumers whit the information necessary to compare retail pricings.
New York State Department of Weights and Measures sets the industry standards for gasoline and diesel motor fuel, including delivery, retail, and inventory.
