Legislator Siela A. Bynoe Partners with NuHealth to Host Breast Cancer Screenings in Westbury and Lakeview
WHAT: Nassau County Legislator Siela A. Bynoe (D - Westbury) is partnering with NuHealth to bring the breast cancer screening van to the Lakeview Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 26, and Magnolia Gardens in Westbury on Thursday, Nov. 2. At both events, free mammograms will be made available to women over the age of 40. Appointments include a breast exam from a nurse, a mammography, and self-examination instructions.
Appointments are required, and mammograms are free for uninsured women based on eligibility guidelines. Women with health insurance may be required to make a copayment. Women who have gone more than a year since their last mammogram will be required to get a prescription from their doctor (if they have insurance) and provide any past films (if available).
“This year, I am gratified and blessed to be celebrating 20 years as a breast cancer survivor, and early detection is what placed me on this fruitful journey to long-term recovery,” Legislator Bynoe said. “That is why partnering with NuHealth to bring NUMC’s Mammography Van to Westbury and Lakeview is especially meaningful this year. I encourage you to reach out to my office to schedule an appointment – especially if you have not undergone a routine mammography in some time.”
