(FLORAL PARK, N.Y.) - On Wednesday, Feb. 19, leaders of the Towns of Hempstead and North Hempstead announced a federal lawsuit against the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding airplane traffic over the townships. Following this announcement, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) issued the following statement:
“As a former member of the Legislature’s Aircraft Noise committee and a representative of the hamlet of Elmont neighboring JFK, I am keenly aware of the negative environmental and quality of life impacts caused by poorly managed airplane traffic,” Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) said. “However, it is telling that the Airplane Noise committee never held a meeting following its inception in 2019 through its dissolution. Like the Airplane Noise committee that did nothing to address the problem, today’s announcement has all the hallmarks of yet another Nassau GOP publicity stunt on a critical issue that demands real solutions.”
