(WESTBURY, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Siela A. Bynoe (D – Westbury) invites the Westbury-New Cassel community to come together on the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 6 to celebrate National Night Out at Martin “Bunky” Reid Park.

A key partner in the event is the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association (PBA). Following outreach from Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Bynoe, the Nassau PBA agreed to furnish and prepare hot refreshments for the approximately 1,000 guests expected to attend.

Westbury’s celebration kicks off with a community parade that steps off from the Salvation Army at 5:30 p.m. and features the Nassau County Police Department, which is providing public safety services for the entire event, as a lead participant in the procession. At Bunky Reid Park, attendees will enjoy music, fun activities, giveaways, local community vendors, entertainment, refreshments, demonstrations by the NCPD’s Office of Emergency Management, and more.

“Westbury’s National Night Out is one of Nassau County’s best attended and most vibrant celebrations, and the support of our partners in law enforcement is a core component of that success,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Bynoe said. “I am deeply grateful to the Nassau PBA for volunteering to work the grills for this major community event, and I thank the Nassau County Police Department, its Office of Emergency Management, the Auxiliary Police, and the Explorers program for the valuable supplemental support they provide year after year.”

For more than four decades, National Night Out events have been held in thousands of communities on the first Tuesday in August as a crime prevention and awareness initiative. National Night Out seeks to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live” by bringing law enforcement, fire districts and communities together in a safe, fun, and welcoming atmosphere.
