Overview
The Nassau County Department of Health’s Office of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Planning has created this dashboard to identify trends in asthma emergency department hospitalization visits. The interactive dashboard shows locations, case counts, and rates of all asthma emergency department visits in Nassau County from 2018-2022.

Technical Notes:
This dashboard was created with data from the New York Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS). This data includes Nassau County residents who visited any of Emergency Departments (ED) within NYS with Asthma as their primary diagnosis. From 01/01/2018 to 12/31/2022. More information about SPARCS can be found at New York Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS).
Data Metrics:
Emergency Department Visits (SPARCS) by zip code ICD-10 code: J45.
Population for rate calculations: 2020 Decennial Census.
Age Adjusted Rate: The age adjusted rates were calculated using the 2000 U.S. age-adjustment weights.
Data Suppression for Confidentiality and Statistical Stability:
Numerators less than or equal to 10 have been suppressed.
Rates calculated using small numbers may be statistically unstable.
