Testing & Treatment

The only way to know for sure whether you have HIV or an STI is to get tested. Knowing your status helps you make health decisions to prevent getting or transmitting HIV or STIs. Treatment is available; it is important to start treatment as soon as possible after diagnosis to improve your overall health and decrease the risk of spreading illness to others.

Confidential testing and treatment options are available at many local health care facilities, including these community partners:

Partner Services

Nassau County Department of Health offers services to persons with HIV or other STIs and their sexual or needle-sharing partners. Partner Services works with people to plan the best way to notify their sex and needle-sharing partners about their exposure to an ST\I or HIV. Partner Services is voluntary and confidential.

By identifying infected persons, confidentially notifying their partners of their possible exposure, and providing infected persons and their partners a range of medical, prevention, and psychosocial services, partner services can improve the health not only of individuals, but our communities as well.
