The Nassau County Department of Health employs individuals to serve in various programs. The following titles are commonly hired by the Department:
- Public Health Nurses
- Epidemiologists
- Social Health Investigators

- Early Intervention Service Coordinators
- Public Health Administrators
The Department is currently hiring for the following positions:
Positions are competitive and require passing examinations administered by the Civil Service Commission. Job announcements are posted periodically on the Civil Service Commission web site. This web site outlines minimum qualifications, salary range, location and filing deadlines for available positions.

Volunteer Opportunities
You can become an everyday hero by joining the Nassau County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). MRC members supplement local emergency and public health resources with their existing skills. They receive training in emergency preparedness, prepare for and respond to emergencies, and support Health Department initiatives.

Internship Opportunities
The Nassau County Department of Health is supportive of educational opportunities for students interested in public health careers, and offers unpaid internship opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students. Interested candidates should forward a cover letter and resume via email to Human Resources or by mail to Nassau County Department of Health Human Resources, 200 County Seat Drive, Mineola, NY, 11501.
Requests for internships for school credit may be available, and require the completion of additional paperwork by your school.
