[ARCHIVED] KOPEL AND GOLDFEDER JOIN TO SAVE LOCAL BUSINESS

KOPEL AND GOLDFEDER JOIN TO SAVE LOCAL BUSINESS

Nassau County Alternate Deputy Presiding Officer Howard J. Kopel joined Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder and the Rosen family, owners of Five Towns Mini-Golf and Batting Range, in calling on the New York State Department of Transportation to reconsider a recent 150% increase in use & occupancy fees on the state-owned property. This comes after a year-long effort by Assemblyman Goldfeder to seek consideration from Albany for the local Rockaway and Nassau County institution, which for nearly forty years has survived on a month-to-month lease from the state, despite frequent flooding, the devastation of Superstorm Sandy, and poor roadway conditions along Route 878 and the Rockaway Turnpike.

"This is a family owned business that provides a unique service to the area,” said Legislator Kopel. “We should be attracting local businesses, not forcing them out. I am pleased to once again join Assemblyman Goldfeder in bipartisan advocacy for our community."
