New York State’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, recently took away Nassau County’s ability to set its own residency rules on convicted sex offenders.
That’s why Legislator Howard J. Kopel is leading the fight for our state legislators to help Nassau County regain its right to protect our children and seniors from these criminals.
Legislator Kopel & Nassau County are seeking to restrict Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 convicted sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of a school. Currently, NYS only sets residency limits on Level 3 offenders. This proposal is just common sense.
Legislator Kopel will continue to fight for the passage of this legislation to restore Nassau’s ability to protect our middle class families, children and seniors. Contact your state legislators today to join this fight for our communities!
