As hospitals feel the strain of this health crisis, medical professionals are taking the center stage. Doctors, nurses, EMTS, and other healthcare workers are working tirelessly to fight this pandemic. We owe them our thanks and gratitude for being on the front lines of this crisis.
Earlier this month, Nassau County Legislator John Ferretti spearheaded a program to send ‘Letters to Our Heroes’ to the brave medical professionals, public safety, correction officers and first responders that are working to keep us healthy and stop this virus. He encouraged residents around the County to send letters, drawings, and emails to his office thanking healthcare workers for all they do.
On April 15th, Legislator Ferretti joined with CSEA Regional President Jerry Laricchuita, CSEA Local 830 President Ron Gurrieri, and hospital officials to deliver thousands of letters to healthcare workers, doctors, nurses and EMTs at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC).
"I was proud to deliver close to 2,000 letters I received as part of my "Letters to Our Heroes" drive today, to the doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals at Nassau University Medical Center,” Legislator Ferretti said. “NUMC is an often-overlooked hospital that serves some of our most vulnerable here in Nassau County. Thank you to everyone from across the county that participated, and thank you to the doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, first responders, and corrections officers on the front lines keeping Nassau safe during the COVID-19 outbreak."
Legislator Ferretti plans to deliver more letters to other healthcare workers, first responders, and correction officers.
