Nassau County Legislator John R. Ferretti, Jr. and members of the Legislature unanimously approved the nomination of Jodi Franzese to the position of Inspector General for Nassau County. Ms. Franzese brings a wealth of experience to the job, as she is a senior inspector general in the New York City Department of Investigation, and previously served as a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney.
“Ms. Franzese stood out from all the candidates for this position, showing a wealth of experience and a high level of qualification,” Legislator Ferretti said. “She will be a devoted and competent Inspector General for Nassau County.”
The Inspector General is an independent office with subpoena power that will oversee many aspects of Nassau County government and operations. Primarily, the office is expected to review and investigate contracts between Nassau County and its vendors to ensure integrity in the contract procurement process. The appointment of Ms. Franzese creates yet another layer of transparency in county government.
