Nassau County Legislator John R. Ferretti, Jr. and local historian and community activist Adam Sackowitz are pushing to protect and expand a designated landmark located outside of the Source Mall in Westbury to commemorate the spot where Charles Lindbergh’s “Spirit of St. Louis” plane lifted off the ground and commenced his trip into the history books as the first person to complete a non-stop, solo airplane flight across the Atlantic Ocean.
“It is of the utmost importance to preserve our nation’s history for future generations,” said Legislator Ferretti. “I will fight to ensure this important monument is protected.”
