Presiding Officer Norma L. Gonsalves and Legislator Steven D. Rhoads recently attended an Award Ceremony for the Merrick Association of Girl Scouts at the Merrick Golf Course in Merrick. 29 young ladies were honored at the ceremony for Gold, Silver, Bronze and Presidential Awards. Of the 29 who received awards, 3 had earned the Girl Scout’s Gold Award, 1 earned the Girl Scout’s Silver Award and 25 earned the Girl Scout’s Bronze Award. The 29 young ladies as well as 9 adults had also received Presidential Volunteer Service Awards.
“It’s great to see these young ladies achieve success in their troop,” said Presiding Officer Gonsalves. “Their hard work and dedication is something we should all applaud.”
“I’m happy to see such a large group being recognized for their achievements,” said Legislator Rhoads. “They have set a great example for Girl Scouts everywhere.”
