The “32nd Annual National Night Out” (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event took place nationwide on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 7:00 p.m., Town Square, Veteran’s Memorial Park, East Meadow Avenue and Prospect Avenue, East Meadow.
Sponsored by Presiding Officer Norma L. Gonsalves, the Nassau County Police Department and the Council of East Meadow Community Organizations (CEMCO), National Night Out is designed to: 1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; 2) generate support for, and participating in, local anticrime efforts; 3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and 4) send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The program was geared towards “Child Safety.” The event featured the Nassau County Police Department Young Explorer Program, R.E.A.C.H. (Return Every Adult & Child Home) Program, HealthFirst/New York, NuHealth, United Health Care, Information on Megan’s Law, Child I.D. Kits, Office of Emergency Management and a Demonstration by the Nassau County Arson Robot.
“I was honored to host our National Night Out event to promote safety and drug prevention in our community with organizers around the country,” said Presiding Officer Gonsalves. “I look forward to hosting this event again for years to come.”
