Presiding Officer Norma L. Gonsalves (R-East Meadow, LD 13) attended Boy Scout Troop 362’s Eagle Court of Honor for Eagle Scout Patrick Hart and Eagle Scout Thomas Ferrone at St. Raphael’s Church in East Meadow. For his project Patrick, a resident of East Meadow, built a storage shed for Island Harvest. The shed will be used by volunteers who work in the community garden to store and more easily access their gardening tools. For his project Thomas, a resident of East Meadow, helped restore and beautify a picnic area outside of Nassau University Medical Center. The picnic area is used by both patients and hospital staff throughout the year. Thomas worked to repair benches, cut back bushes and build new planter boxes in the area.
“This award is presented to those who have done extraordinary work for their community,” said Presiding Officer Gonsalves. “These young men have undoubtedly earned this award and have bright futures ahead of them.”
