Presiding Officer Howard Kopel, in partnership with County Executive Bruce Blakeman, County Comptroller Elaine Phillips, Nassau County Office of Crime Victim Advocate, Nassau County Office for the Aging and the Nassau County Police Department Community Affairs Unit, is hosting a free scam awareness presentation to help residents identify scams, learn how to report one and how to recover if they ever become a victim.
The program includes important information on topics such as:
- What is Financial Abuse and Exploitation
- Who is targeted and why
- How financial abuse and exploitation occur
- Scams to be aware of
- Possible signs of financial abuse
- Ways to protect yourself
- What to do if you have been a victim
