Presiding Officer Norma L. Gonsalves attended Boy Scout Troop 351’s Eagle Court of Honor for Eagle Scout Quinn Spohrer at the North Merrick Fire House. For his project Quinn, a resident of Merrick, chose to help Elijah, a school for the extremely autistic. Quinn cleaned up the building and surrounding area, repainted the foyer and exterior of the building, built a podium, replaced a bathroom vanity, sink and faucet, built office shelving, and replaced and installed a new carpet in the foyer. His project required nearly 60 volunteers and over 320 hours to complete.
“Quinn has shown tremendous dedication and organizational skills to attain the rank of Eagle Scout,” said Presiding Officer Gonsalves. “He has done a great service for a group in need and his efforts will have a lasting effect on the community for many years to come.”
