Nassau County Legislator Howard Kopel and Town of Hempstead Councilman Anthony D’Esposito are sponsoring the NuHealth/Nassau University Medical Center Mobile Mammography Van to visit our neighborhood to provide breast cancer screenings for women over age forty. The screening will include a breast examination by a nurse, a mammography and instructions for breast self-examination at home.
If it’s been at least a year since your last mammography and you are planning to receive an exam, you will need a prescription for the exam from your doctor (if you have health insurance) and must provide any past exam films, if they are available. Women with health insurance will be required to make a co-payment. The mammography is free for uninsured women, based on eligibility guidelines.
COVID 19 screening guidelines:
All patients MUST wear a face covering during the screening.
Patients MUST cancel appointment if they have experienced flu-like symptoms, symptoms of COVID-19, or if they have been exposed to someone suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 within 14 days of appointment.
Appointments are required and are scheduled on a First Come, First Served Basis
