Legislator Ferretti was truly honored to attend a ceremony on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 on the Anniversary of the Purple Heart Medal and recognize three of The American Legion Post #1711 Purple Heart Veteran's. Thank you gentlemen for your service, sacrifice and duty to God and our country.\
Here is some information on each of these brave men, our heroes and honorees:
| PETER C. BROCK Peter proudly served in the US Marine Corps as an Infantryman from 1966 – 1968 during the Vietnam War. Peter suffered bullet wounds immediately upon arriving in Vietnam and on another occasion and has received two Purple Hearts. He achieved the rank of SGT before he was Honorably Discharged. Peter has been a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 1711 for 31 years. |
| JOHN C. GONSALEZ John proudly served in both the US Marine Corps and the US Air Force as a helicopter mechanic from 1968 – 1973 during the Vietnam War. John, who was assigned as a tunnel rat to flush out the enemy in their hiding holes, was wounded at the beginning of the Tet Offensive. This resulted in a capture and difficult time as a POW. John has been a dedicated member of the Levittown American Legion Post 1711 for 46 years and is a Past Post Commander and Past County Division Commander. |
| ARTHUR TRIPP Arty proudly began serving in the US Army as a Ranger Special Forces Medic in 1965. He achieved the rank of Staff SGT and is also the recipient of the Bronze Star. |
