The “32nd Annual National Night Out” (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event is scheduled to take place nationwide on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. We cordially invite you to attend and participate in this event at 7:00 p.m., at Town Square, Veteran’s Memorial Park, East Meadow Avenue and Prospect Avenue, East Meadow. No Reservations are necessary. For your comfort, bring folding chairs. Event will be held Rain or Shine!
Sponsored by Presiding Officer Norma L. Gonsalves (R-East Meadow, LD 13) and Nassau County Police Commissioner Thomas C. Krumpter together with the Nassau County Police Departments and the Council of East Meadow Community Organizations (CEMCO), National Night Out is designed to: 1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; 2) generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; 3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and 4) send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The program will be geared towards “Child Safety.” The event will feature the Nassau County Police Department Young Explorer Program, R.E.A.C.H. (Return Every Adult & Child Home) Program, HealthFirst/New York, NuHealth, United Health Care, Information on Megan’s Law, Child I.D. Kits, Office of Emergency Management and a Demonstration by the Nassau County Arson Robot.
Educational literature on Child Safety, Personal and Property Safety, Internet Safety and Drug Prevention will be available. The First & Third Precincts POP units will also be on hand to answer questions on public safety. A question and answer period will follow, concluding with a candle lighting ceremony.
Rain or Shine. Light refreshments will be served. Balloon animals, the Amateur Observer’s Society of New York, Entertainment by “Fairy Tales Production” and ices, popcorn and cotton candy will be on hand for the kids (and adults) to enjoy.
