Did you know that you could be entitled to money that is sitting in an account somewhere and not even know it?
“Unclaimed Funds” are money or the rights to money that have been dormant or forgotten. Some common examples include bank and investment accounts, uncashed checks, telephone/utility deposits, wages, insurance benefits, mortgage insurance refunds and estate proceeds. Every day, New York State returns 1.5 million dollars to their rightful owners!
There is no charge to search or file a claim to recover unclaimed funds.
To see if there are unclaimed funds in your name, visit the New York State Comptroller’s website to conduct a free search: www.osc.ny.gov/unclaimed-funds.

The Office of the Nassau County Comptroller conducts workshops to help Nassau County residents learn how to search for unclaimed funds.
