Honored the first-ever recipients of the Comptroller’s Math, Accounting and Finance Awards, created to recognize students who have strong academic records and have demonstrated a personal interest in one of those subject areas. The students honored are the world’s future leaders, business owners designers, problem solvers and innovators.

The Long Beach NY Chamber of Commerce held their March meeting at The Anchor Tavern, LBNY. Our local businesses are vital to our economy. Thank you to the Long Beach Chamber for all you do to help and further develop the business community in the City by the Sea and surrounding communities.

The Empire State After School Program's Black History Celebration honored Edmonia Lewis as the 45th stamp in the Black Heritage series. Ms. Lewis was the first African American and Native American sculptor to earn international recognition of her work. Ms. Lewis's stamp is on display at the African American Museum of Nassau County along with other stamps in the series.

Kicked off St. Patrick's Day this year at the Nassau County Police Emerald Society Pipe Band breakfast at Wantagh Inn.

The City of Glen Cove held a “Female Firsts” panel in honor of Women’s History Month & International Women’s Day.

NY Race Track Chaplaincy Ground Breaking Ceremony: Comptroller Elaine Phillips attended a groundbreaking ceremony at Belmont Park for the NY Race Track Chaplaincy’s new home. Domestic Harmony Foundation 12th Annual Luncheon Gala: The Domestic Harmony Foundation’s “I Am Unbeatable,” 12th Annual Luncheon Gala. The Domestic Harmony Foundation (DHF) is a community-based, non-profit organization and is Long Island’s only domestic violence agency that helps South Asian, Middle Eastern and Muslin women and children with their physical and emotional needs, including free Mental Health Counseling. Comptroller Phillips was joined by the Pakistan Consulate General New York, Bina Sabapathy, IALI India Association of Long Island, Isma Habib Chaudhry, Uzma Syed, Habib Bank Unlimited and Pinky Jaggi, Long Island Ladies Circle of New York.

Autism Awareness Month Dome Lighting: Lighting it up blue for Autism Awareness Month. The dome of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive & Legislative Building in Mineola was illuminated in blue in honor of Autism Speaks “Light it up Blue” campaign. Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips was joined by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, County Legislator Steve Rhoads and County Legislator John Giuffre, Autism Speaks, Stella Spanakos of The Nicholas Center & Spectrum Designs Foundation to promote Autism Awareness, inclusion and support to help individuals with autism reach their full potential.

South Asian Advisory Board Holi Celebration: Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips attended the South Asian Advisory Board’s meaningful Holi Celebration in March. Holi is a celebration of color, marking the arrival of spring, a time for forgiveness and the importance of good over evil. Comptroller Phillips was joined by Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino, Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena, Nassau County Legislator Rose Marie Walker, Nassau County Legislator Steve Rhoads and community leaders and members.
