Nassau County's downtowns are centers of commerce and excitement, near LIRR stations and good transportation, and are walkable communities. These are the places where we can expand our tax base, get people out of their cars, and create jobs for young people, and housing for seniors, veterans, and the next generation. Under the Visioning Program, the County has awarded matching grant funding to municipalities to prepare plans for sustainable community development. Each plan is developed through the collective input of municipal officials and agency staff, professional consultants, local stakeholders, and citizens of the community.
