“I was disappointed that my colleagues and I were unsuccessful in our vote to override the County Executive’s veto of our Legislation, which would have given the residents of Nassau County the opportunity to vote on whether to reject or approve an elected assessor when they go to the polls in November. Even though a record number of residents have grieved their assessments, Assessor Moog has refused to disclose the algorithm that was used to determine property values or schedule Town Hall Meetings to answer resident’s questions. This cannot be allowed to continue. I have been fighting to give you a strong voice and a choice on this issue from the very beginning. I will continue to fight for the rights of our taxpayers as well as accountability and transparency in the reassessment process.”
