The Nassau County Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is an independent, nonpartisan, charter mandated office. The scope of authority and powers vested in the OIG include conducting objective and independent reviews, audits, and investigations in order to provide increased accountability and effectiveness, detect and prevent waste, fraud, abuse, and illegal acts in programs administered or financed by the County, particularly the County’s contracting and procurement processes.
The Nassau County Office of the Inspector General (OIG) was created on December 18, 2017 by a unanimous vote of the Nassau County Legislature.
The mission of the OIG is to foster accountability, efficiency, integrity and restore trust in County government. To promote and enhance this trust, the OIG is committed to cultivating and safeguarding an open, honest, and accountable government.
