(PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) joined the community at North Hempstead Beach Park on Friday, Oct. 15 to pay tribute to the 58,228 Americans who died during the Vietnam War. There, the Town of North Hempstead held a ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Washington, D.C. memorial that tours the nation.
“We must never forget the bravery shown by the tens of thousands of Americans and scores of Nassau County residents who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Vietnam,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “Thank you to our Vietnam veterans for your service and sacrifice and thank you to Supervisor Bosworth and the Town Board for making this meaningful observance possible.”
