WHAT - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) will join the community for Destination: Great Neck’s inaugural “Gatsby Fest,” a street fair with live jazz, dancing, speakers and more scheduled for noon - 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17 at the intersection of Middle Neck Road and Cedar Drive. A centerpiece of the event will be the ceremonial renaming of a portion of Middle Neck Road at Cedar Drive in Great Neck Estates as “Great Gatsby Way.”
The resolution to enshrine F. Scott Fitzgerald and ‘The Great Gatsby’ in the neighborhood where he lived for two years as he wrote his most celebrated work was sponsored by Legislator Birnbaum and unanimously approved by the full Legislature on Monday, Sept. 27. Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, Town of North Hempstead officials and the Great Neck Vigilant Fire Co. are expected to be on hand to take part in the unveiling ceremony.
