(GREAT NECK, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) thanked the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District for hosting a successful COVID-safe “Shed-The-Meds” event at their East Shore Road location on Sunday, Nov. 8. During this drive-through drop-off, residents had the opportunity to securely dispose of unwanted and/or expired medication. After disposing of their unwanted medications, each participant received a personal size hand sanitizer complimentary of Legislator Birnbaum.

“Providing a secure and COVID-safe way to dispose of unneeded medication is a simple way to both protect the environment and reduce opportunities for prescription drug abuse,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “I applaud the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District for facilitating the return of a valuable public service that is especially beneficial for families impacted by addiction and our neighbors and loved ones in recovery.”
