Rising New Hyde Park Memorial students Saanvi Mirchandani and Khushi Shah undertook a major project to provide school supplies to needy students returning to school in the Fall. They raised over $5000 via a GoFundMe campaign and coordinated the purchase and delivery of supplies including everything from backpacks to notebooks to markers to pens and pencils to diapers for families with younger children. The students and their families were joined by Presiding Officer Rich Nicolello and NHPMHS Principal Dr. Richard Faccio at the Ethical Humanist Society to help unload the supplies. Jim LoPresti of the Ethical Friends of Children has been working with Saanvi and Kushi and will oversee the distribution of materials.

Presiding Officer Rich Nicolello said, “Saanvi and Khushi did an extraordinary job organized this project, which will help children in need to have the supplies they need to start school in September. From raising the money to organizing the purchase and delivery, this was a major undertaking. This project proves these girls can accomplish anything they set their minds to and that our future is in good hands.”
