[ARCHIVED] Lafazan, Advanced Cardiovascular Diagnostics Host Mobile Cardiovascular, COVID-19 Antibody Testing

Legislator Lafazan - COVID 19 Testing (release)

(EAST NORWICH, N.Y.) - Nearly 120 residents underwent testing for cardiovascular ailments and COVID-19 antibodies outside the James H. Vernon School in East Norwich on Tuesday, July 14 during a pop-up clinic hosted by Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) and Advanced Cardiovascular Diagnostics.

In addition to identifying individuals that were carrying COVID-19 antibodies, organizers said that clinicians identified significant heart issues in several of the 117 patients that underwent testing.

“During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were out to prevent heart attacks and strokes as doctors’ offices were closed and people were afraid to go to hospitals. With our cardiac mobile vehicles, we went to the hardest-hit neighborhoods every day,” Dr. Perry Frankel, a board-certified cardiologist, lipidologist, multi-state diagnostician and founder of Advanced Cardiovascular Diagnostics, said. “Four months later, people are still somewhat apprehensive about going to the hospital or to doctors’ offices, so we continue to go out to where people live to help prevent heart attacks and strokes.”

“Through this collaboration, we were able to provide potentially life-saving diagnostic care directly to residents and empower them with the knowledge to improve and protect their health for years to come,” Legislator Lafazan said. “The partnership of Dr. Perry Frankel, Sophia Demetri and the entire Advanced Cardiovascular Diagnostics team made this possible, and I am grateful for their commitment to community service during this pandemic.”
