On Saturday, June 13, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced that a request for expressions of interest (RFEI) seeking vendors related to the design and implementation of police officer body cameras has been issued by the County. Following this announcement, Legislator Bynoe made the following statement:
“Police body cameras are a proven tool for enhancing transparency and accountability in a manner that benefits both civilians and officers. That is why Minority Leader Abrahams, Legislator Solages and I have advocated since the summer of 2014 to bring this tested, reliable technology to Nassau County.
I am hopeful that the County Executive’s recent action will reinvigorate this essential dialogue and result in an outcome that brings Nassau County in line with contemporary best practices in community-focused law enforcement.”
