On May 28th, Nassau County Legislator Rose Marie Walker joined with Lynne Kramer, the CSEA Local 830 Vice President - NUMC Unit President, and 8th grade student Nicholas Cervo to deliver more than 300 homemade mask extenders to Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) nurses and staff.
Nicholas Cervo has been making these mask extenders himself and donating them to those in need. Already, Nicholas has made and donated 1,572 mask extenders to hospitals in 3 other states, doctor’s offices, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, the East Meadow Post Office, maintenance workers and family and friends.
Legislator Walker said: "As Nassau residents have endured the COVID-19 outbreak, we’ve seen countless stories of neighbors helping neighbors, and people stepping up to make a difference. Nicholas Cervo is a shining example of young people taking initiative to help those in need. He has certainly taken the Boy Scout slogan "Do a Good Turn Daily" to heart."
