(OYSTER BAY, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) and Rustan Lundstrum, owner of the Coach Meeting House in Oyster Bay, presented a $1,000 donation to The People’s Pantry in Oyster Bay on Friday, May 15.
The donation represents proceeds from “Frozen Drinks for a Cause” - an April 25 fundraiser sponsored by Legislator Lafazan and Lundstrum - in which 20 percent of proceeds from drive-thru beverage service at the restaurant earmarked for the not-for-profit agency in support of its mission to address food insecurity in the community.
The People’s Pantry, which operates out of the Oyster Bay Life Enrichment Center and is a ministry of People Loving People, a community service-driven organization with roots in the Shelter Rock Church , opened in November 2019 and has served an important role in meeting increased demand for food assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our collective response to the challenges presented by this pandemic shines a bright spotlight upon our community’s tremendously generous spirit and passion for paying it forward,” Legislator Lafazan said. “I thank Russ Lundstrum for hosting this innovative fundraiser, extend my sincere thanks to everyone who supported this worthwhile cause, and salute The People’s Pantry for stepping up to address this critical need.”
