(GREAT NECK PLAZA, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D – Great Neck) recognized local artist George Abrahams during the opening reception for his art show at Great Neck Plaza Village Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
A retired attorney and an active community member, Abrahams is a past President of Temple Israel of Great Neck and a performer in the Temple Israel Players theater group in addition to being an accomplished painter. His current exhibit features 23 paintings inspired by places he visited during his travels around the world, ranging from the old Coast Guard Station in New York to sunsets in Cape Town, South Africa and Great Neck’s very own Saddle Rock Grist Mill.
Abrahams has a passion for creating oil paintings from photographs that he has taken.
“George’s paintings evoke a sense of realism and give his viewers a glimpse at a lifetime of world travels,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “His passion for creating exceptional pieces of art shines through in this most recent exhibit, and I encourage residents to visit Great Neck Plaza Village Hall to see these extraordinary works for themselves.”
