Statement from Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum in Support of March Against Anti-Semitism
(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - Thousands of Long Islanders, including religious leaders, elected officials and citizens, joined forces for the Long Island March Against Anti-Semitism on Sunday, Jan. 12. The march was one of the bi-county Task Force Against Anti-Semitism and Symbols of Hate’s inaugural initiatives.
“Hatred and anti-Semitism fester when people of good conscience remain silent. That is precisely why this March Against Anti-Semitism - during which elected officials stood shoulder-to-shoulder with residents as advocates for change - is such a pivotal moment,” Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) said. “This March represents an important step forward in our mission to create a unified Nassau County that rejects bias and never accepts hateful actions.”
