WHAT - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) announces the launch of the “Grandparent Power” series at Great Neck House.
Great Neck resident, author and lecturer Francine Spilke Epstein pitched the idea to Legislator Birnbaum, who recently became a new grandmother and was excited to partner with her and the Great Neck Park District to establish the free eight-week enrichment series. Grandparent Power is designed to address topics relevant to the mature stages of life and strengthen healthy communication and relationships with children and grandchildren in the digital age.
A social media tutorial is planned for the first session and will include a speaker from Great Neck’s Epic Enrichment Center. In addition, the Office of the Nassau County District Attorney is scheduled to present its “S.T.O.P. Then Send” internet safety and anti-cyberbullying initiative so that grandparents can share cyber-safety tips with grandchildren and be a resource in the event of cyberbullying.
