(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) partnered with County Executive Laura Curran to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut - Israel Independence Day on Wednesday, May 22 - and with it, Israel’s 71st birthday.
Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of Israel New York, Israel Nitzan was the guest speaker at the program, which was held in the County’s Ceremonial Chamber. In addition, the American and Israeli National Anthems along with other Israeli songs were performed by the Schechter School of Long Island Middle School Choir, led by Music and Drama Director Joan Cohen.
