“Today, the Nassau County Legislature scheduled an override of the County Executive’s veto of legislation that would have given residents a choice in the assessment process. Sadly, the Minority Caucus voted to deny residents that voice. The reassessment process has had numerous errors, but more importantly, Assessor Moog has refused to hold town hall meetings to answer resident’s questions, and has refused to release the algorithm he used to determine property values. This is simply unacceptable. The residents of Nassau County deserve better than this, and I will continue to fight for them, and for accountability and transparency of the assessment process. These actions show a complete lack of transparency, which I for one, have a big problem with.”
