“From the beginning of the property assessment debacle, the Majority Caucus has been fighting to give residents a strong voice on this issue. It's telling that as much as the County Executive touts the reassessment's transparency and accountability, she refuses to allow the taxpayers to confirm or reject that notion in November. The reassessment project has been plagued with errors from the start; David Moog, the politically appointed assessor will not schedule town hall meetings to answer the residents’ questions except for on a tax attorney's private Facebook page, a record number of residents have grieved, and the Assessor has refused to disclose the algorithm that was used to determine property values. The Legislative Majority will continue to fight for accountability and a fair and transparent property reassessment to Nassau County.”
