[ARCHIVED] Legislator Birnbaum Honors Great Neck Vigilant Engine & Hook and Ladder Co. During National EMS Week

Legislator Birnbaum - National EMS Week 2019

(GREAT NECK, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum marked National Emergency Medical Services Week by attending the Great Neck Vigilant Engine & Hook and Ladder Company at their EMS Week Recognition at the Firehouse on Tuesday, May 21. During the program, Legislator Birnbaum presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Fire Department in recognition of their service to the community.
National Emergency Medical Services Week was established by President Gerald Ford in 1974 to recognize the role EMS providers play in saving lives from sudden cardiac arrest and trauma; in getting people to the hospitals best equipped to treat heart attacks and strokes; and in setting the stage for a positive care experience through medical skill and show care and compassion.

“During a medial crisis, outstanding EMS providers deliver the life-saving care that we can all rely on when time is of the essence and every second counts,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “It was my pleasure to honor the members of the Great Neck Vigilant Engine and Hook and Ladder Company and I thank all of the EMS providers throughout the 10th Legislative District for all they do all year long.”
