(MINEOLA, NY) – Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) visited the main branch of the Great Neck Library located at 159 Bayview Avenue in Great Neck to see the new Radio-Frequency Identification System (RFID) which provides patrons with the option of self-service check in and check out of the library’s materials. Great Neck Library Board of Trustees President Robert Schaufeld demonstrated how materials with microchips attached to them can be both checked out and returned by patrons on their own.
“I applaud the Great Neck Library for implementing RFID technology which can free up the library’s employees and enable them to spend more time assisting patrons” said Legislator Birnbaum.
