(MINEOLA, NY) – Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) was joined by friends, family and colleagues in government for a Yom Hashoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day event in the Ceremonial Chamber of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive & Legislative Building in Mineola on Friday, April 13, 2018.
Werner Reich, a renowned speaker and Holocaust survivor presented an inspiring story of survival and endurance. Mr. Reich was a teenager in Nazi death camps, including Auschwitz-Birkenau and he survived medical selection and the death march.
“It is important to remember the atrocities of the Holocaust so that we make sure they never happen again. Mr. Reich’s positive outlook on life after everything he went through can serve to inspire us all to overcome adversity in our own lives” said Legislator Birnbaum.
