[ARCHIVED] Nassau County Department of Health Issues Advisory Against Bathing at 14 Beaches

Mineola, NY – Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health is issuing an advisory against bathing at 14 beaches, effective today, July 14, 2017.  This advisory is issued as a precautionary measure for beaches known to be impacted by stormwater runoff caused by heavy rainfall.  Stormwater runoff can impact bathing water quality by elevating bacteria levels, which may cause exceedances of the New York State standard for bathing water quality.  

 

*14 North Shore Beaches within Nassau County:

Centre Island Sound – Bayville

Creek Club – Lattingtown

Lattingtown Beach – Lattingtown 

Laurel Hollow Beach – Laurel Hollow 

Morgan Sound – Glen Cove

North Hempstead Beach Park – Port Washington

Piping Rock Beach Club – Locust Valley

Pryibil Beach – Glen Cove

Ransom Beach – Bayville 

Sea Cliff Village Beach – Sea Cliff 

Soundside Beach – Bayville

Stehli Beach – Bayville

Tappen Beach – Glenwood Landing

Theodore Roosevelt Beach – Oyster Bay

*Thisadvisory for the 14 beaches will be lifted at 7 a.m., on Sunday, July 16,unless there is additional heavy rainfall or water samples reveal elevatedbacterial levels
