(MINEOLA, NY) – Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) in conjunction with New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman will hold two workshops for the public this fall. The program entitled “Smart Seniors,” is a statewide elder abuse prevention program designed to help seniors identify potential scams and abuses before they happen, and provide them with information they can use to stay safe and healthy in their daily lives. Seniors will learn about the most common scams, the techniques perpetrators commonly use, and who to alert if they identify a scam or are victimized. Seniors will also be informed of how to protect their physical safety at home and in other common day-to-day situations. There will be a workshop on September 30th at 2:00 p.m. at the Great Neck Social Center at 80 Grace Avenue in Great Neck. Another workshop will be held on November 29th at 12:15 p.m. at the Herricks Community Center at 999 Herricks Road in New Hyde Park. No reservations are necessary.
