(MINEOLA, NY) –Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) and the Nassau County Police Department will greet the public during National Night Out on August 2, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Jonathan L. Ielpi Firefighters’ Park located on Grace Avenue in the Village of Great Neck Plaza. National Night Out which in New York State is held on the first Tuesday of August, is an annual community-building initiative that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. The event is an opportunity to meet members of the Nassau County Police Department who will have a table set up with giveaways for various age groups including pamphlets, public safety materials and coloring books. At 8:00 p.m., as part of the Village of Great Neck Plaza’s Summer Concert Series, the band Mambo Loco will perform in a concert which is titled “Summer’s Sizzling Salsa Beat.” “I am proud to promote National Night Out which is an important event that helps to strengthen the bonds between the Nassau County Police Department and the members of the public who they proudly serve” said Legislator Birnbaum.
