(MINEOLA, NY) – On July 11, 2016, Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) attended and spoke at an event at the Viscardi Center in Albertson to kick off National Disability Voter Registration Week. The presentation focused on the REVUP campaign. REVUP stands for Register, Educate, Vote, Use your Power. The campaign aims to eliminate barriers to voting, promote turnout of voters with disabilities and engage candidates and the media on disability issues. After the presentation, Legislator Birnbaum met with John Kemp, the President and CEO of the Viscardi Center and Denise Vargas who is heading up the campaign for voter registration at the Center.
