(MINEOLA, NY) – The Village of Kings Point will be receiving funding from Nassau County as part of a Community Revitalization Project (“CRP”) to purchase and plant trees along Village roadways to replace trees destroyed by Superstorm Sandy and other recent storms. The request for funding was unanimously approved at a full meeting of the Legislature held on July 13, 2015. Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) worked jointly with the Nassau County Executive’s office and the Village of Kings Point to see that this project received funding through an inter-municipal agreement between Nassau County and the Village.
“I am glad that the Village of Kings Point will receive funds in order to replace trees lost to recent powerful storms. This project will help to enhance the beauty of the Village while having a positive impact on the environment” said Legislator Birnbaum.
In a statement provided to Legislator Birnbaum’s office, Village of Kings Point officials said they are pleased to have received grant money from Nassau County to replace some of the hundreds of trees knocked down by Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and other recent storms.
