Deputy Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello and Legislator Ellen Birnbaum recently honored students from Manhasset High School who have been selected as Intel Semifinalists for 2014. The students, Priya Alagesan, Albert Kim, Michael Kusnierek, and Kevin Tong, each spoke about their projects and the potential use of the research in medicine, the environment and other areas of our society.
The Intel Science Talent Search is the nation's most prestigious pre-college science competition. Annually, students entering the Intel STS compete for $1.25 million in awards. Only 300 students are announced as semifinalists each year.
Legislator Nicolello stated, “It is extraordinary for a school to have one Semifinalist. To have four is testament to the students, parents, Manhasset community and the talented and dedicated educators at Manhasset High School. The County of Nassau is proud of what Priya, Albert, Michael and Kevin have accomplished and all they will achieve in the future.”
