At the 17th Annual Nassau County Legislature’s “Women of Distinction Awards”, Legislator Richard Nicolello honored Luisa Filipe for her many years of service to the community and county, especially our young people.
Luisa was born in Portugal and immigrated to Mineola in 1968. Recognizing her love for community service, Luisa joined the County Seat Kiwanis in 2001. She has served as president of the club for two consecutive years. Luisa is currently the Lt. Governor of the Long Island North Division of Kiwanis, administering the nine clubs in the Division. Recognizing her work on behalf of the club and community, County Seat Kiwanis recently presented Luisa with the “Kiwanian of the Year” award.
Luisa is also actively involved in the Carle Place Key Club and serves as the student’s Key Club Advisor. She has been a banker for over 34 years and is a Senior VP Group Director for Signature Bank in Garden City.
Legislator Nicolello stated: “Luisa is one of those leaders who accomplishes great things professionally and in the community but rarely calls attention to herself or what she has accomplished. It is my honor to recognize Luisa for her tireless commitment to service and for her trailblazing leadership.”
